White Elephant Puppet
The White Elephant is a sacred creature in Buddhist religion. This fortunate creature inspired the serene puppet headdress seen here. Made of only Bristol paper and glue it is beautifully animated with a full range of motion in the trunk and ears that flap in unison. All of the mechanisms are hidden behind the wearers back.
1890s Cycling Suit
Inspired by a collection of over 178 photographic and illustrated research pieces from primary sources this cycling suit was draped and flat patterned to the measurements of the model above (Hope Rector). There are 22 pin-tucks in the shirtwaist and pleated details at the bloomer cuffs which contribute to the uniquely proportioned Victorian silhouette.
Sunrise-Sunset Shoes
These unique shoes made with hand-painted leather and recycled cup soles of corn husks and balloons where designed, stitched, glued and grommeted by Sabrina at the Colorado Shoe School

Onyx Dance Bodice
Classical Ballerina's will recognize this boned bodice with its evenly quilted lining and corded edges. It is built with excess seam allowance to support alterations for various wearers as in a dance company.
Embroidery
Wonderland Embroidery
Sabrina is a self taught hand embroiderer who enjoys the 3D aspect of layered stitches. This piece exhibits a wide variety of stitches including bullion knots and woven wheels as flowers.
Bone Bloom Embroidery
This commission is a testament to the beauty and strength of bodies that are challenged by pain. Using careful satin stitches and back-stitches Sabrina layed in detailed Morning Glories and shoulder bones.
Chevroned Skirt
Drawn to challenges and self improvement opportunities, Sabrina chose to chevron the stripes of this fabric together with precision, taking a simple skirt to another level.
Stitcher and Wardrobe for Berkshire Theatre Group Summer 2021 Season
The Sole Stitcher hired for the 2021 Summer Season at the Berkshire Theatre Group and one of only two Wardrobe people. Sabrina was responsible for constructing garments and attending fittings, in addition to laundry and maintenance and backstage repair and quick-changes of costumes for "The Importance of Being Earnest" designed by Hunter Kaczorowski, stitching for "Wizard of Oz" designed by Elivia Bovenzi Blitz, and distressing, wig maintenance and application during Tech week for "Nina Simone: Four Women" designed by Sarafina Bush. Below are just a few examples of pieces that Sabrina worked on with Costume Coordinator Amy Avila.
Cecily's Lace Top & Skirt
Sabrina altered this delicate lace top by inserting lace in the side seams and sleeves and adding a breakaway zipper in place of the original buttons.
In order to create Cecily's ruffled skirt we combined two skirts and layered them over an underskirt with detailed back stitches to secure the fine mesh.
Distressing

One of Sabrina's favorite costume shop responsibilities is distressing pieces like Aunt Sarah's Street Clothes which were hit with a water hose in the moments before she steps on stage. Using acrylic paint, fabric dyes and fake dirt Sabrina created a realistic affect of wet disarray for this costume.

Gwendolyn's Floral Skirt
The Importance of Being Earnest included a number of skirts drafted by Amy Avila and Sabrina serged and stitched them together. In November of 2021 Hunter Kaczorowski was awarded for Outstanding Costume Design in the annual Berkies Awards. Sabrina was glad to have the opportunity to realize those designs in 2021.

Wizard of Oz Alterations
Quick rigging is essential to musical theatre costumes, as seen here in Velcro that Sabrina carefully whip stitched to one of many ensemble costumes. Altering these stock costumes to fit child actors called for some creative solutions.
